The Council of Europe Electronic Evidence Guide is now available in Italian thanks to the joint effort of the Tech and Law Center, the Digital Forensics Association and the DEFT Association. The guide will be presented at DEFTCON 2014.
The Electronic Evidence Guide has been developed within the framework of the Council of Europe CyberCrime@IPA project and is intended for use by law enforcement and judicial authorities. The purpose of the guide is to provide support and guidance in the identification and handling of electronic evidence. It can also be useful for training and self-training.
From the introduction to the Guide: “The purpose of the guide is to provide support and guidance in the identification and handling of electronic evidence using methods that will ensure that the authenticity of evidence will be maintained throughout the process.
It is not intended to be a manual of instruction with step-by-step directions as to how to deal with electronic evidence through all the phases of an investigation. It does provide an overview of the issues that pertain to electronic evidence and provides overarching advice on the considerations. Readers of this document should check if advice on this subject area already exists at the national level. This is primarily a basic level document however; some are more detailed in that they provide very practical advice for specialists.”
